BeSuccessful Capacity Building Small Grant Application
Background
The BeSuccessful Community Capacity Building Initiative will transform District B by taking on five challenges: workforce development, public safety, community organizational capacity building, economic development, and quality of life. Since launching in 2022, Council Member Tarsha Jackson’s BeSuccessful Community Capacity Building Initiative has evolved to become an initiative that puts the community’s needs first. In order to have thriving communities, we must work in partnership with organizations and clubs that are dedicated to being at the forefront of systemic change for their community. This capacity-building grant is an outgrowth of our dedication to District B.
Who can apply?
This funding opportunity is for non-profit organizations or civic clubs/super neighborhood organizations in the City of Houston’s District B area, including Acres Homes, Northeast Houston, Greenspoint, and Humble.
Your application will serve as a letter of intent and will go into our general pool for consideration. We do not have the capacity to fund every proposal, we review submissions at the beginning of each designated month and will reach back out to you directly if there is an opportunity to fund your work within 14 days after the submission deadline.
While we cannot fund every proposal, by applying through the portal, we will add you to a newsletter that will alert you of any new opportunities for funding.
Proposal Deadline and Decision Dates
Proposals will be accepted in March, June, September, and October with a deadline of 14 days after opening.
Notification of our decision will be sent directly to the recipient by the 14th day after the submission deadline.
Application Requirements
BeSuccessful Capacity Building Small Grant application utilizes an application with four narrative questions:
- Program Description (2500 characters maximum): Tell us about your program( How does your proposal align with the BeSuccessful initiative? How does your program/ event assist the community? etc. )
- Who does your community serve?
- What is the capacity of the people you serve?
- Alignment with the BeSuccessful Community Capacity Building Initiative
Grant Details:
- Funding is available up to $2500
- If your proposal is not selected, you are eligible to apply for funding in the next 6 months.
- For example, if you apply and are not selected in the first round, you are eligible apply in the third round.
- There will be a hold on your application if your organization has been a recipient of District B’s District Service Funds or Rapid Response Funds within the last 12 months.
- Once a recipient is awarded, they may not apply again until the following year.
- As a condition of the grant award, grantees shall agree to submit a final report, detailed deliverables will be provided in the notification letter
